Calgary Aquarium Society Auction – Attendee Disclaimer

By attending or participating in the Calgary Aquarium Society Auction, you agree to the following:

  • Treat attendees, volunteers, and animals with respect. Harassment, threatening behaviour, excessive disruption, or unsafe conduct will not be tolerated.

  • Animal welfare comes first. Do not open, shake, mishandle, or unnecessarily disturb livestock containers. Please notify a CAS volunteer if you have concerns about an animal.

  • Winning bids must be paid for immediately at the auction desk. A winning bid is a commitment to purchase.

  • Once a lot is sold, the purchaser assumes responsibility for its care, handling, transportation, and wellbeing.

  • Smoking and vaping are prohibited anywhere on the event property.

  • Children must be appropriately supervised.

  • Respect the venue and follow reasonable directions from CAS volunteers and event staff.

  • CAS reserves the right to refuse service or require any attendee to leave for violating these rules or otherwise creating an unsafe or disruptive environment.

Calgary Aquarium Society Auction Submission Rules

By submitting a lot to the Calgary Aquarium Society auction, you agree to the following:

Health & Biosecurity

  • I have not experienced any known disease, parasite, or unexplained fish losses in the source tank within the last 30 days.

  • I will not knowingly submit sick, injured, or unhealthy fish, shrimp, snails, plants, or other livestock.

  • I will not knowingly submit non-functional, dirty or unsafe or expired equipment/food.

  • I understand that the Calgary Aquarium Society reserves the right to reject any lot that appears unhealthy or poses a risk to other hobbyists.

Lot Packaging

  • Each lot must contain only one species or variety.

  • Do not mix multiple fish species in the same bag or container.

  • Do not mix multiple plant species in the same bag or container. (unless its an unavoidable contaminant like duckweed or snails)

  • Lots must be packaged securely and clearly labeled.

Labeling Requirements

Each lot must include:

  • Species name (common and/or scientific name)

  • Quantity

  • Any relevant information (e.g., juvenile, adult, tank-raised, rare variety, etc.)

  • Any possible contaminants (duckweed, snails, shrimp…etc)

Auction Day

  • Please arrive early to allow time for lot registration and processing.

  • CAS can provide fish bags if needed, but bringing your own bags and containers is appreciated.

  • Late submissions may not be accepted.

General

  • All submitted livestock and plants must comply with applicable laws and regulations.

  • The Calgary Aquarium Society reserves the right to refuse any lot that we suspect does not meet these requirements.

  • Failure to follow these rules can result in warnings, temporary or permanent bans CAS auctions.

Submitting lots requires a valid membership with the Calgary Aquarium Society or partner organizations. If you don’t have one, you can purchase membership at the auction.
