Classes 1 to 24: Single Fish: Except where noted, fish are shown singly, or in pairs with just one fish being judged. Please specify the fish being judged.
Classes 25 to 26: Pairs: Any male and female of the same species, or any two fish of a species that cannot be sexed.
Class 27: Parents and Fry: Include both parents and at least five fry up to five months in age. They can be shown in a divided tank at the entrant’s discretion.
Class 29: Species Tank: A display of five breeding-sized fish of one species. Any combination of males and females to show color matching and uniformity of size.
Class 30: Aquarium Beautiful Tank: A display of fish and plants showing how well an aquarium can look. Entrants will supply everything required, unless the entry can be accommodated on the show stands.
Class 31: Rooted Aquarium Plants: A display of a rooted aquarium plant judged on the plant’s symmetry and the overall health.
Class 32: Any Other Variety of Plant: All plants, excluding rooted plants, are eligible for this class. Floating plants should cover approximately 50% of the water’s surface. Display bunch plants as three cuttings anchored in the sand. Bunch plants (e.g. Cabomba, Bacopa, hornwort, and Eloidea) are judged on the uniformity of the cuttings.
Class 33: Educational Aquarium Display: The purpose of this class is to inform the public about a specific aspect of aquatic environment or the aquarium hobby. It consists of two parts. A poster, maximum size 24" x 24", using a combination of text and pictures to illustrate the topic and an aquarium, maximum size 60 liters, demonstrating the topic. The public educational value is the primary judging criterion.
Class 34: Photography: A color or black and white photographic print (not previously entered at a CAS show) that depicts aquatic life as it relates to the aquarium hobby. All photographs must be original and mounted. Minimum size 5" x 7".
Class 35: Novelty and Special Effects: To show the public what can be done with fish utilizing wine bottles, round jars, and other odd containers, as well as special effects.
Class 36: Arts and Crafts: Awarded on a peoples’ choice basis and includes handcrafted any item depicting aquatic life (e.g. macramé, crochet, wall hangings, paintings, mobiles, ceramics, etc.).
Best Decorated Tank in the Fish Classes: Presented to the best-decorated tank displaying a single fish. Not open to pairs, species, or freshwater animals’ classes.
